Not really trash talk, I just noticed the Vols haven't won a bowl game since 2007, that was a 10-4 season, and Fulmers last season, should have called him back.

Wasn't his last season. His last season was in 2008 with dave clawson replacing coach cut. Went 5-7 for the second time in four seasons and after USC whomped him everyone called for his head. I wonder how the last few years would of turned out if they hadn't fired him, but we will never truly know. He probably would of kept us in the 8 to 10 win range after a couple of years. I really doubt we would of been in the bowl drought that we have suffered under dooley.

oops lol, I know it wasn't because I met him I 2008. Anyways, I wonder too, where they would be. He was a nice guy, and a good coach.

I have to respect that 3 year golden age in Vandy football. Most wins ever, they came closer to almost filling the stadium for the Ole miss game than ever before, recruiting in the top 50 for the first time ever. I almost feel bad it came to an end.

The S&C was appalling in his last years, his recruiting was just as bad. It would have kept trending down. 2009 would have been 7 MAYBE 8 wins, 2010 would have been 7 most likely, and then it would have started to devolve. Maybe we'd still have been going to bowls, but Fulmer showed zero signs of getting better at his responsibilities, and he was becoming out of touch. Spurrier surrounded himself with good coaches and recruiters and took the next step. Fulmer was way too proud to ever do something like that.

Firing Fulmer was not the issue. It's what happened after that sent the program hurdling towards the depths of hell. If we'd have hired a guy like Edsel or Golden, we'd have been winning 8-9 games the last few years, recruiting from 5-15, but our schedule would still have been too rough to be contenders. We've played three legit natl title contenders every year since 11, and before that it was two a year.

It's not like we were swimming in bowl wins in his last years, though.

You can't possibly be referring to Randy Edsall or Al Golden?

And that's being very generous.
