While someone being a 'yo-yo virtuoso' might be kinda lame, I would be very impressed by anyone who can actually fish with only a yo-yo.

Yes, that explains their affinity for the color purple.

Didn't a post say they invented BBQ? They still ain't got it right. My family left South Carolina after the civil war for better BBQ.

Damn right.

Disgruntled SEC fans left in my wake, across four states.
I still can't wait to meet up with the two Kentucky fans that told me I was a dumbass for thinking UF could beak UK in basketball this year.

I've seen Hispanics at the river fishing with a can..cast with it and everything. You only have to buy license if you are using a rod.

Have you ever wondered what kind of fish that is exactly? You've got catfish, bream, talipia, grouper, flounder, sword. I mean, come on, what is it? Fish is a pretty generic term.

Its changed a few times.  I remember reading a story that they originally used Cod but the increased demand from McDonalds nearly them out, so they changed to something from Alaska and for similar reasons switched to a fish from New Zeland and now have switched again.  Apparently people love mystery fish so well that what ever species they are currently using, it drops their numbers to a point where the numbers decline substantially.  I think that is also partly why the Filet-o-fish sandwich disappears from the menu every so often.

Some of my favorites are:

3. South Carolina produces more peaches than anywhere in the country, except California. Take that, Georgia.
(anything we can beat Georgia in I'll take)

5. South Carolina is the birthplace of barbecue. This can be debated, but the Indians were pit-cooking hogs centuries ago off the coast - or so the story goes.
(Proof that only South Carolina BBQ is the only real BBQ)

9. The first game of golf played in the U.S. took place in Charleston, SC.

15. It’s illegal to fish with a yo-yo or dynamite in the fine state of South Carolina.
(Yo-yo?)

23. South Carolina is the state with the lowest percentage of women in state legislature. In 2012 the state only had 10% women in its legislature, while the national average is 23.7%

Actually good BBQ began with plantation days. A plantation was a place that was considered to be self sustaining or for easier terms you didn't need to leave the place to get what you need but I digressed. A hog would be slaughtered and the so called cheaper cuts were given to the workers. They mastered cooking the cheaper cuts of meat

Hard to beat low country area BBQ IMO. Love me the vinegar/mustard based BBQ sauces such as Johnny Harris with pulled pork
