Anyone with a vested interest in middle east doesn't want democracy.   When you're a democratic country, you'll elect radicals that don't like the USA.  So we should let "fighting for democracy" die with the cold war.

All they have ever known is hatred, violence, fanaticism, and iron-fisted totalitarianism. They don't want democracy. They've never wanted democracy. And no matter how many billions we pour over there, how many valuable troops we send, we will not change these people.

...Would anyone really be all that upset if the different Muslim factions destroyed each other? I'll never understand why we think we need to be involved at all.

can't get rid of the cockroach problem by blowing up the house. And this would create a new resolve that would land on our doorstep and into our own house.

for a thousand years all they've wanted to do over there is blow each other up. Violence is their only means of negotiations and resolution. In turn it's costed us, counting the first time we went over there, roughly 25 years of lives and money. I'm worn out on this Posted Image.

And they will do it for the next 1000 years.

Being alive for the cold war was the deciding factor in that knowledge. I figured maybe you like so many half your age believe the organization to be something else.

I was (and am still) alive for the Large Hadron Collider. That doesn't mean I know all of the specifics as to how it works.

This idea that baby boomers seem to all share that they know things simply by living at the time something happened is pretty funny. It's like some sort of Theory of Historical Osmosis.
