Probably when the countries that hate us got ahold of nukes.
Just spitballing here though.

Somewhere between world war I and II. And why would NATO get involved? No NATO nation has been attacked. The UN and NATO are 2 very different organizations.

Very good. Yes, the NATO and UN are very different organizations.  One wages war while the latter tries to prevent war.   If and only if the UN agrees to a mitigation strategy that demonstrates a broad participation of troops in a NATO (and only NATO) operation, then the USA should play a part.

However, it is NOT the USA's responsiblity to jump to the rescue of every war torn country.

NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization a mutual defense pact to deter communist/USSR aggression in Europe. They were the counter to the Warsaw Pact Nations.

Wikipedia is your friend.  Only one correction.  The Warsaw Pact was created after the UN so it was the counter measure.

Agreed.
After killing off some terrorist leaders, I assume we were just trying to buy some goodwill with the people and others around the world .
Understandable, but I don't think anyone actually expected success.
If they did, they were idiots.

Being alive for the cold war was the deciding factor in that knowledge. I figured maybe you like so many half your age believe the organization to be something else.

And we had the stomach to be the isolationist nation that could watch the world burn around us by all means I would agree. But we don't and half assing it just isn't a viable option. We have half assed every conflict since Korea and this is the result.

You sound like a man with a plan.  What course of action do you recommend regarding Iraq/Syria?

At this point, I'm beyond hoping we could make anything better, I'd just be happy with not making things worse, but the fact is this admin is too stupid to even pull that off.  They're bringing tanker trucks full of gasoline to pour on a raging inferno....

for a thousand years all they've wanted to do over there is blow each other up. Violence is their only means of negotiations and resolution. In turn it's costed us, counting the first time we went over there, roughly 25 years of lives and money. I'm worn out on this Posted Image.

All they have ever known is hatred, violence, fanaticism, and iron-fisted totalitarianism. They don't want democracy. They've never wanted democracy. And no matter how many billions we pour over there, how many valuable troops we send, we will not change these people.
I'm certain the national media is relieved. They can kiss State's ass and go back to the old "Ole Miss is Waycist" narrative. Meanwhile I hope Gameday has fun in Morgantown. Look out for burning couches!
