The last several years has seen Arkansas's recruiting classes end up getting killed by recruits opting to play pro ball after being drafted. Through two rounds though, no underclassmen or recruits for Arkansas have been selected yet. I'll be watching closely, because if we get 75% of these guys to campus our offense is going to spike tremendously over the next couple seasons.

The losers in college of Day 1 in the draft:

North Carolina (6) - Braxton Davidson, Forrest Wall, Cameron Varga, Mitch Keller, Jack Flaherty, Joe Gatto

Vanderbilt (4) - Touki Toussaint, Justus Sheffield, Cody Reed, Isan Diaz

Florida State (2) - Nick Gordon, Sean Reid-Foley

Oregon (2) - Alex Jackson, Derek Hill

Arizona State (3) - Marcus Wilson, Alex Verdugo, Ryan Castellani

UCLA (2) - Brady Aiken, Grant Hockin

Ole Miss (2) - Foster Griffin, Ti'quan Forbes

Only 3 teams in the top 10 according to PG didn't have a signee drafted today: LSU (6), Arkansas (9), and Oregon State (10).

We have 4 that I'd say right now are iffy.

Here was our latest class's movement in the PG rankings. Most worried about Luke Bonfield, but he has expressed desire to go to college and wasn't drafted in the first two rounds. He'd probably be our 3-4 hitter the minute he gets to campus. Rodriguez is only rated around 260, but he's considered a very elite catching prospect due to his bat. Keaton McKinney is another who will probably start in the outfield from day 1, but he may be offered a pretty hefty bonus when drafted. He and Bonfield would probably raise our team average by 20 points by themselves next year.
Class of 2014 Rankings Movement
Jack Benninghoff - 236 to 241
Luke Bonfield - 58 to 60
Ryan Fant - 304 to 308
Keith Grieshaber - 211 to 185
Keaton McKinney - 41 to 42
Jonah Patten - 148 to 154
Nathan Rodriguez - 254 to 260
Chad Spanberger - 411 to 416
Blake Wiggins - 200 to 206
Sam Hentges - 152 to 158
Mark Hammel - 476 to 486

This draft is going great for the Gamecocks so far.  All the top commits made such high bonus demands that none have been drafted.

Greiner (3rd) and Pankake (8th) both go to Detroit.  Montgomery (4th) went to the Yankees.  A former commit went right after Monty, but he wasn't going to qualify academically.

It'll be interesting to see if English, Martin, and/or Seddon stay another yr as well.

A lot of seniors drafted so far.  Some of these guys who were thought as locks for school are going to have a lot more money thrown their way.

Yeah they are all gone.

Right now, I think we only lose one. And he's probably 50/50.
I'm so Posted Imageing pumped. We havenet gotten this draft lucky in years. Should be a top 5 class easy

From what I've heard we went after hitters. These guys are supposed contribute immediately.

If we add bats to our pitching,we are going to be pretty salty.

Of the 4 you listed, Diaz didn't pass admissions, was signing wherever he was drafted. The other 3 are all likely to sign, Sheffield being the most likely to make it to campus...but it's a long shot at that.

Also, Dylan Cease, first round talent but slipped to the 13th round to the cubs, may not make it. Have heard Cubs are willing to go massive over slot with him.

This has been the best outcome we've had in probably 7 or 8 years.
Huge for Arkansas baseball.
