If we go 4-8 at least we will have the most exciting part of UT football to look forward to, getting to watch our hapless AD speed date a bunch of coaches I have never heard of.

^ This should be a reality show that the SEC Network should pickup.

Dave Hart: Mystery Coach 1, have you ever coached a game against us?
Coach 1: Yes, we played it close but you beat us by a touchdown.
Dave Hart: Interesting, Coach 2, What is your head coaching experience?
Coach 2: In one year I coached my team to a 5th place division finish.
Dave Hart: Impressive.  Coach 3, family is important, did your father ever win a football national championship by riding the coat tails of once in a lifetime talent?
Coach 3: Definitely, its all he ever talks about.
Dave Hart: I've heard enough!  Coach 3

Announcer: Meet the new coach of the Tennessee Volunteers.....................Eugene Chizik, III

I don't know...  After football season the SECN is going to need some programming, unless you think people actually watch regular season college basketball.  The advertisers will demand this show when they realize how high the ratings would be.  And it has to be UT, no one else does a comedically inept coaching search as us.  We will have to content ourselves with winning Emmys now, I'm afraid.  Take that Bama, how many Emmy's for Outstanding Reality Program do you have?

I wish Florida was on tap for next week, but we tied Ole Miss in the standings........ they are on the rise!

What games are most important for morale this year?
Even going 5-7 last year, beating SC was nice.
Which wins buy the most goodwill?

Most upside wins for us are Alabama and Florida, even if one or both is bad, it doesn't matter.  Those two games will be the most important for us unless the SEC jacks up the schedule.  I was really afraid of the embarrassment of having our goal posts tore down if we had managed to beat UF in Knoxville two years ago, of course our secondary took care of that for me.

Most downside losses are Kentucky and Vanderbilt, no matter the state of our program and theirs, the fans expect to win these and any coach who loses to these two will find that his chair is starting to smoke.

I'm assuming you get slaughtered by Bama.
I would hate for us to be the surprise W.

Agreed on Kentucky and Vandy.
They should always be bottom of the barrel, no matter what.

I think we'll have a pretty decent team this year, but decent doesn't get you far with our schedule.  I'd be fairly pleased with 6-6.  As someone noted, Our down years end after this season.

I saw a report from Phil Steele last night and he had Tennessee ranked at around 120th in the number of returning lettermen.

It also stated that all 5 O-Linemen starters would be new this year and that Tennessee lost it's top 5 tacklers from last year.

This will take a year or two at best.

BRUTAL schedule.

But they always say a head coach makes the most distinguishable improvement between years 1 and 2. That's why I expect a bit of a 'surprise' season from the Vols and they'll get to 7-5.

The conference schedule is frontloaded, and it'll get ugly in October. But I think by November the Vols will have developed some stability on the offensive line. They have a good selection of skill players, they just need a QB who can get the ball to them. Defense should be better as last year it was a nightmare and the Vols have recruited well, especially in the back seven.

Marquez North should have a breakout season if they can be a little more creative in terms of how they get him the ball. He's a true talent.

7-5. A trip to the Music City Bowl where they will play North Carolina State.
