What kind of control was Gruden seeking that your AD would not let him have?

AD level control.

Maybe the SEC will hire him as a sideline reporter, that way we get all the antics without anyone being hampered by his coaching.

So he wanted to leave his stress free job with ESPN, which I read he makes 4 million a year to come control not only the football team but to some degree the athletics dept at UT?  Even YOU have to admit It just doesn't make sense.  His wife was a cheerleader, he was a GA, blah, blah....

May the bridges I burn light the way.

It is.
The knowledge that we are a better program than Georgia means we will never have to lose to them for the foreseeable future.

People forget that with the Gator name and recent history and talent at hand in Florida, UF could easily make the right hire and go back to kicking ass and taking names in a single season.
I'm certain the national media is relieved. They can kiss State's ass and go back to the old "Ole Miss is Waycist" narrative. Meanwhile I hope Gameday has fun in Morgantown. Look out for burning couches!

I don't get why UT fans keep saying this. So Gruden would've come the first time, but wasn't given enough control...so they said" we'll show that cocky bastard. We'll hire Derek Dooley." And then when the situation came up a second time they once again refused him the control he wanted and said "fukk him, we'll go get cincinnatti's coach".
Dont forget they got turned down by Louisville before they went beggin to Cincy

Florida will aim way higher than Mullen if Muschamp gets canned

And if we don't, no one will ever know because our AD doesn't like to embarrass us.
Whoever we get is always the first choice.
Except Zook.

This is a big reason to have patience with a coach unless it's obvious they have zero ability to get the job done. The better coaches are already millionaires and if there's no pressure on them then why jump in a fire.

That's why I was surprised Beliema made the move here and I'm willing to give him a chance. He gave up a job at a winning program in a manageable conference to take over a train(Harley) wreck.

AD level control of the football team. Scheduling, oversight of players off the football including academics, oversight of the mentoring program etc. Basically putting the entire program under him with no outside oversight and an almost unlimited budget for his staff.

Yeah, the one who coached the #2 defense in the nation the season we hired him...the same defense that won a natty a year later. Woe is me.
