Since so much time and effort and thoughtfulness was given to sacred and historical tradition in football scheduling moving forward in the league, why don't we put forth the same for basketball, and then send a memo to ESPN to let them know how it is going to be?

Let's use the historic rotation partner of the 60's, 70's, and early 80's when the SEC had a Saturday-Monday format. That is historical and it makes sense...History, tradition...let's do it.

Ole Miss - Mississippi State
Auburn - Vanderbilt
Alabama - LSU
Florida - Georgia
Kentucky-Tennessee

Then we have the four expansion clubs...to keep the tie to FOOTBALL, why don't we just make the other two:

Arkansas - Missouri
South Carolina - Texas A&M

These match ups would be the home-home partner every year and then the SEC office could put together the meaningless confab of scheduling they want for the rest of the conference schedule.

There you have it.  Thank you Mr. Slive

Just play ooc until jan. Then screw the regular season and go ahead and play a double elimination conference tourney. No need for college basketball to go into April.

Joe Gator sadly said it all by giving the high five...not many care at Florida now and when Billy goes those too will be gone.  South Carolina used to care when they were in the ACC and Coach McGuire was there.

Frankly, I don't care either other than I would like to see the tradition of a home and home every year with Tennessee, the longest basketball rivalry in the SEC, and traditionally I would like to play Vandy home and home....other than that, I could give a damn about any of the other SEC schools.  Its a nuisance to have play the SEC schedule when UK's goals are different from everybody else.

To be honest, I was just yanking your chain.  Although SC doesn't really have any traditional rivalries in SEC basketball (and therefore, I really don't care about scheduling like you mention in your OP), I do follow and enjoy watching NCAA basketball (and especially SEC matchups).  I am hopeful that Frank Martin gets us to a level of respectablility in the next year or two, and I think he will.

And speaking of Frank McGuire and his teams, those were the days for us old time SC fans.  Players like John Roche, Tom Owens, Mike Dunleavy, Brian Winters, etc., were thrilling to watch.  Maybe one day we will get back to that level (or at least close to it).

That's the most unbearable sport to watch. Hell from what I hear we're even somewhat decent and I still can't watch it.

I remain to this day very good friends with a member of the same freshman team that included Bobby Cremins.  All of the guys you mentioned and others during McGuire's ACC guys who I have gotten to know all hope that one day the Gamecocks will get back there.  I was so hoping that when you all joined the SEC that spark would be lit again.  I know King Dixon wanted it to.
Here is hoping that Coach Martin can make that happen.
