Your son is a 5 star recruit, he's recruited by all the big time schools. His favorite school that's recruiting him the hardest happens to be your favorite team's rival. You meet with the coaching staff and get to know them, they're pretty nice guys.

They give your kid spending money and offer to pay off some of your debts. Would you report them even though your son loves the school, or accept/decline the money and continue like nothing happened?

I'd politely decline the money and go about the process as normal. I dont like to receive charity, and I also know everybody is doing the same Posted Image in the recruiting world.

yeah I'm going to second this.  I'd rather not be beholden to 1. my team's rival, 2. sell my son to the highest bidder like some kind of pimp, 3. show my son how one takes advantage of the system inspite of the rules. I'd like their to be at least one person left on the planet who has some moral compass.

True. But if you're desperate and you're kids athletic talent is your once chance, you might think differently.

I'd make sure my kid either gave back or did not accept the spending money and I'd politely refuse.

I might but being able to sleep at night and live with myself has a higher value. In solving one problem are you creating another?
