I'm looking at a job in the Sunmerville area. Is anyone familiar with the area?  I've been to Charleston a bunch as a tourist but haven't really explored the area northwest of town.

I know a little here and there.

Summervill is a nice little burb of Charleston. Ive only been a few times just passing through but people I know who have stayed or lived there seem to like it

It will take time to get accustomed to the rank smell of the paper mill thats in a part of town close to the interstate.

Oddly enough a non-sc native might actually be able to give you some better insight. @JoeGator

I live in Summerville. Live in Berkeley County, instead. Cheaper taxes.

Funny enough, my government boss is a Vol fan. He has been happy since UT beat USC. If he gets mad, just remind him. LOL

What are your priorities in your surroundings?

My boss is a lady UT fan.
Thankfully she knows next-to-nothing about sports.

I'm fairly easy to please.  Shopping/grocery store within a few minute drive.  Being pretty close to Charleston would be a big bonus at this point.  Good schools would be nice but can always go private school if needed.  Safe area where I won't get mugged.

Doesn't have to be in Summerville. Needs to be within Dorchester Co though.

What's "close" to Charleston for you?
I think Summerville can be up to 45 minutes away if I'm not mistaken.

Dorchester district 2 schools, Ashley Ridge is what the gf recommends. She is a local. If you are staying in Dorchester you are going to have higher taxes and further commute to Charleston, the islands and Myrtle Beach.
