Going to be a first-time father in October...
Let's hear some words of wisdom (and inevitable snark) from the board!

Also, we've got an interesting little thing going for naming the child...going to ask certain friends and family to submit one name each, and then add those names to our list of possibilities, and seed them accordingly...into a bracket, where each name will face off against each other, and scored according to a list of categories I've come up with. The total score will determine which name survives and advances!

(Also, inb4 smokeyone tries to convince you to abort the child so we will have one less possible liberal in this world )

@Scream had his first kid in September, you could ask him for advice (if he ever shows back up). Although I might be able to shed some light on the subject, seeing as I've been put on anti-slut patrol to make sure she doesn't grow up to become a whore, but the little shit is making my job extremely difficult. Basically Scream is failing as a father, I plan to usurp his parental rights.

Congrats, always exciting news. Advice?

Go ahead and reconcile that your own wants and needs have now become secondary... saves you the shock and awe later as 1 after another fail to come to fruition.

But don't worry, they're replaced with different rewards.

I've had a couple scares. You can never go wrong naming a boy Travis. Best name out there.

Nothing I or anyone else can say will help you.  No matter how prepared you think you are, you're not.  Just accept the fact that you're ignorant, go on with life and learn as quickly as possible.  Kids are built tough to survive the ignorance of their parents....

ETA

There is one thing that will help.  Make sure the hospital bag is packed 2 months before the due date.  Those jokers can surprise you when they show up...

C'mon now; it's a little early to be planning a gay porn career for the youngster.

Congrats !!!!
"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."

  • prepare to never sleep in again
  • I've always been a fan of keeping family names, look up your family tree and see what you like; just a suggestion.
  • kids are great, holler at us when you have that moment with your wife when you say, "what the hell did we do with our time before we had children?"
