Were those teams used as 1-4 before or after bowl games were played?

They were entering bowl season, after the conference's championship games.

*edit*

What the bowls were selected off of.

I forgot we fell to No.5 after going 12-1 and losing to No.2 Bama in the SEC Championship back in 2009.
That was real dumb.

That was real dumb.

I think that was just because your QB broke down crying during the game.

I would have loved to see what that 99' team could have done. No where near as good as most of those teams...but you could never count them out.

Couple more shots, couple more possible losses instead of an NC. A playoff system may have brought many more SEC NC titles.

Imagine if we had a full playoff. I'll use the top 24 after conference championships this past season.

1. Florida State
24. Duke

2. Auburn
23. Northern Illinois

3. Alabama
22. UGA

4. Michigan State
21. Texas A&M

5. Stanford
20. Fresno State

6. Baylor
19. Wisconsin

7. Ohio State
18. Lousville

8. Missouri
17. UCLA

9. South Carolina
16. LSU

10. Oregon
15. UCF

11. Oklahoma
14. Arizona State

12. Clemson
13. Oklahoma State
