Looks like The Kid is going to be at UF for a very long time.

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting the recent signing of his 3-year extension...

Donovan signed to coach Gators through 2019

Billy Donovan signed a three-year contract extension in February expected to keep him coaching the Gators through the 2018-19 season.

Donovan agreed to the contract last June and signed it in February, according to a UF spokesman.

The deal will continue to pay him a salary of roughly $3.5 million annually.

The top-ranked Gators will face UCLA at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday night during the South Regional in Memphis. It marks UF's fourth straight trip to the Sweet 16, the nation's longest current stretch.

The Gators (34-2) are riding a school-record 28-game winning streak and are the oddsmakers favorite to win the school's third national championship.

UF has appeared in the NCAA Tournament 14 times during Donovan's 18 seasons after the school had made the Big Dance just three times prior to his arrival from Marshall for the 1996-97 season.

The Gators have won six SEC regular-season titles, including three of the past four, and four SEC Tournament titles. UF won both this season.

Donovan is 484-188 overall and 449-168 at UF. The 48-year-old Long Island native recently passed LSU's Dale Brown for second all-time in SEC history behind Kentucky icon Adolph Rupp.

I've never understood why he doesn't get more national play.  He is one of the best coaches in the game right now.

Congrats UF.  Sucks we have to face him every year.

Will he back out of the contract extension tomorrow or Thursday?

Is that when he'll be offered the Kentucky job again?

The next time he's offered the job will be the first time.

Precisely his point. :D  Whatever happened to all the Catsfan private plane and real estate lookouts?

I hope they were able to find other work; they weren't very good at that particular vocation.

You're 100% right about that. Our AD needs to be smacked for not calling him after Tubby.

It is nice to see that Billy D is getting paid more than Will Muschamp. Florida is a football first school but that'd just be a slap in the face if he wasn't the highest paid coach at that school.

Yeah, incredibly he didn't even ask for additional money in the extension; but at this point, after 18 years at UF and under the same AD all that time, he knows Foley will treat him right and pay him fairly... these are 2 guys who probably talk salary and bonuses over a burger and a beer without a whole lot of attorney or agent interference.

I'm quite certain he's getting big bonuses for this year's results, but a raise in salary is probably built in for bringing home another banner.

As I'm sure we're all aware, coaching salaries aren't only based on results; they're also based on the revenue produced by those programs... and even at predominant basketball schools, football still brings in a lot more than basketball.

Look at UK; football made $30,526,981 last year, while basketball made $23,201,795. It's even more lopsided at UF, where football made $74,820,287 and basketball made $13,393,910.
