I expect better from Arkansas, Alabama, and Kentucky in future seasons.

But still expect crap from Missouri, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Auburn is immediately the 4th best team, at worst.

Might be a little better if your coach would quit handing out schollies to junkies.

So anyway, let's look back at the last 2 decades and see just how bad the SEC has been...

The SEC has won 3 of the last 8 National Championships and 6 of the last 20, with 3 different teams (UK, UF, UAr).

The Big 12 (KU) and the B1G (MSU) have both won 1 title during that span; while the Big East has won 5 ('Cuse, UConn, UL), the ACC has won 5 (UNC, DU, Maryland), and the PAC-12 has won 2 (UCLA, 'Zona). So let's look at it again:

NCAA Titles last 20 Years - SEC (6), ACC (5), Big Least (5), PAC-12 (2), Big 12 (1), B1G (1).

How about winning percentages by major conferences over the last decade...

2004

B1G - 56 - 82-56 - .594
B12 - 53 - 76-52 - .594
P12 - 42 - 55-42 - .567

In conclusion, the SEC has won the most National Championships with the same number of teams as any other conference over the last 2 decades; and in the last decade, despite getting fewer bids than all but the Pac-12, our teams have a better winning percentage than all but the ACC.

Embiid won't be available for KU again today, but I need them to play up to their potential anyway and beat Stanford.

For the first several of those 20 years, the SEC was pretty good. The last few years it has been Florida, Kentucky, then a couple of others.

Here is the SEC's conference RPI rank starting this year and going back.

7, 8, 3, 6, 4, 2, 5, 1, 3, 6, 2, 1, 1, 2, 5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4.
13/14    -     94/95

3 of the worst 4 seasons have occurred in the last 4 seasons. I'm sure conference realignment where some conferences focused on football and others basketball played a big part.

3 of the worst 4 seasons have occurred in the last 4 seasons. I'm sure conference realignment where some conferences focused on football and others basketball played a big part.

One of the things I wanted to see was if conferences made the most of their opportunities if/when they got a lot of their teams in; or in other words, were the numerous bids justified by success in the tournament?

For the SEC, the answer was obviously yes; we got the 2nd fewest bids, but had the 2nd best winning percentage of the last decade, and won the most national titles of the last 2.

The ACC and Big East also justified their high number of bids; but one might argue that neither the Big 10 nor the Big 12 was really deserving of more bids than the SEC.

And even though the Big East somewhat earned their bids, it's still interesting to note that they've needed considerably more bids to win 5 NC's than the SEC needed to win 6.

Detractors got to keep the balance since the supporters are such a fervent bunch.

I'm past Henderson, though; the end of his career was fitting enough, but you said AK had already lined up his successor.

I honestly can't imagine a player being more of an asshole than MH, though, so hopefully SEC fans will get something of a reprieve with the new guy.
