Junior righty Brett Graves (St. Charles, Mo.) was dominant again for Mizzou baseball, as his 8.0 IP led the way for Mizzou (5-6) to claim a series-opening 4-1 victory over Southern Mississippi (6-8) Friday night (March 7) at Taylor Stadium. Graves improves to 2-1 on the season, surrendering only one run over eight innings of work, scattering five hits and striking out a career-high eight. The USM run in the second inning ended Graves' scoreless inning streak at 16.1, and the junior righty threw 21 first pitch strikes to the 29 batters he faced. Over his last three starts, Graves has pitched 23.0 innings, allowing just 10 hits and two walks while striking out 20.
