The SEC plans to review its alcohol policy for neutral-site games and home games off campus, but not necessarily selling alcohol to the public at campus games, SEC Associate Commissioner Herb Vincent said.

The University of Texas recently began selling beer and wine at some sporting events this year and may continue at football games in the fall. At least one SEC athletics director likes the idea for SEC stadiums, where alcohol is permitted in private suites but not public areas.

Selling beer at football games "would enhance the fan experience," LSU Athletics Director Joe Alleva said. "I don't think that's something that would necessarily be a negative for drunkenness and it might curtail the drunkenness if you sold beer. Right now, they drink excessively in the parking lot before they come in because they can't get alcohol inside. Perhaps if they had access in the stadium, they wouldn't drink as much when they come in. I think it's something we have to talk about. This may come down the road in the future, and I wouldn't be opposed to it."

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive expressed mixed feelings about selling alcohol to fans at games.

"Up to now, we like our rule," Slive said. "I haven't heard any concerted interest in changing our rule, but our people would like to talk about it. We're institutions of higher education and alcohol on campuses has been an issue for a long while. I think this is an area where we want to walk slowly and carefully."

The SEC's current alcohol policy states: "No alcoholic beverages shall be sold or dispensed for public consumption anywhere in the facility and the possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the public areas of the facility shall be prohibited. These prohibitions shall not apply to private, leased areas in the facility or other areas designated by the SEC. There shall be no advertising displays mentioning or promoting alcoholic beverages in the facility."

Makes no difference to me. For EVERY football game I attend, I get faded in the parking lot and sneak flasks in to continue getting faded in the game.

Can you believe this statement outta the LSU corner?

Selling bourbon would certainly help UK fans. Much easier accepting disappointment when you're wasted.

What exactly did you expect from LSU?

Let them brew moonshine at their tailgate parties.

Part of the fun is sneaking ur own booze into the game. Now they want to sell it for astronomical prices and spoil all the fun.

Until the stop allowing you to carry your own booze into baseball games and force you to buy it there. Damn that would suck.
