Georgia Lady Bulldogs coach Andy Landers knows what it's like to win SEC Championships. Although not on the same level as Pat Summit's Tennessee Lady Volunteers, Landers's program has consistently been among the SEC's best in his 30+ years in Athens. Therefore, it was fitting that he was the opposing coach who would congratulate the coach who South Carolina fans hope is the next great SEC women's hoops coach on her first SEC Title. Dawn Staley's Lady Gamecocks defeated Landers's Lady Bulldogs this evening 67-56. The win clinches sole possession of the SEC regular season title for Carolina.

Let me get this straight. We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and will be fined for if we don't, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts itself from it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese and financed by a country that's broke.

What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe we should try fielding the women's team in the men's team's stead?

12,000+ plus fans to a mid week womens basketball game is just awesome.

Proud of those girls.

Now let's take care on Tenn. and win the whole thing.

When's the last time we packed 10k+ for a men's game? When we played Kentucky?

  • Entering Feb. 25 games, South Carolina is third in the SEC in largest percent attendance increase for men’s basketball (9,507 in 2013-14, 10.5% increase from 8,603 in 2012-13).

There's at least a somewhat promising statistic for SC basketball… I think next year will be Coach Martin's first big year at Carolina with the maturation of Thornwell and co. We were in a lot more games this year, we just haven't learned how to close the deal and win. A few more talented recruits on the roster and Martin could conceivably have us dancing in a couple of seasons.

Yeah, we are second with 15% increase while LSU is first with like an insane 30% increase or some Posted Image. Nice to see smaller programs like ours finally getting some interest with the fans.

If only Gamecock fans had the same enthusiasm for watching crappy basketball as we did for watching crappy football for 100 years… We'd pack 83,000 in the stands to watch us lose to the Citadel but we can't put 20,000 in there to watch our men's team lose to Upstate. Have we grown so spoiled by the success of Gamecock baseball/football that basketball simply doesn't register on our radar?

ontopic: I hope we give Staley a big fat contract extension

i dont know if you understand exactly how many people 20,000 at a basketball game is

http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance

only 1 team in the NBA averages that much, much less a college in a small state with 2 major schools competing for seats.

9,500 is good. nothing amazing, but people dont go to basketball games like they do football

Yes.
The more winning programs you have, the harder it is to pack the house for any single event.

Plus, you guys were playing Clem$on in baseball and I think everyone expected to lose to UK.
