How laws requiring proof of identification in order to vote are racist? That moron Joe Biden was foaming at the mouth about it recently. I don't see how it's racist. It doesn't make sense. That idiot was comparing it to Jim Crowe era voting requirements for black people.

1. The Photo ID law applies to ALL races.
2. What other time do you have to not use proof of identification when dealing with the federal government? Good luck if a cop pulls you over and you tell him "Not showing you my ID, you racist"

Can someone elaborate on this?

I found the topic now. I get what you're saying about not everyone being able to get an ID ( I think you overstate it a little bit though) but I don't see how it's RACIST. There are plenty of dirt poor white people in the South. We both know that most dirt poor white southerners vote Republican btw, so it's not targeting a specific party's voter base.

@ForwardRebels

What do you think of this?

Agreed, there's plenty of poverty to go around; although if you did the research you'd probably find the economic disparity pretty substantial between the 3 groups (white, black, and Hispanic) as a whole.

Probably depends on you live. Obviously in Savannah, GA there are way more poor blacks than whites.

Yeah, could be very different depending on where you live; on a national level the difference is pretty shocking, but it seems to improve a little year after year as we mature or evolve as a society.

To be honest, I see the rationale behind requiring ID's to vote. Voter fraud is, and always will be around. Even requiring ID's will not stop it. Politics is dirty, and one or both main parties are going to cheat.

And yes, I know that one must have ID's to buy beer, etc, etc, etc.
Regarding racism allegations, that's just a cheap way to not address the issue, imo. There are some legitimate complaints about it though, especially in the Mississippi Delta which is the epitome of poverty in the US. But, ole Delbert seems to have negated many complaints by the state paying for vans to come pick people up to vote, and mailing ppl the application form.

In this state, it begins in July, IIRC, us having to present ID's.

The scheme isn't really racist; it's just designed to prevent more poor people from voting, and since the descendants of slaves and recent immigrants make up a huge portion of that voting bloc, it's often simplified as being racist by folks who use the term too much.

Remember when people would defend the chance of becoming wealthy with their vote instead of accepting that they will always be poor? Back when there was a meaningful accepted distinction between being broke (temporary situation) and being poor (long term situation)

When did we go from that rugged individualist to this collective victim?

12% of the total population and roughly 5% of the voting population. So we will accommodate 5% of the voting population at the expense of 95% of the voting population?

Not with my help he won't; he's perfectly capable of getting there all by himself.

Like Asian Americans who have highest median household income of any demographic?  I really have no point, it's just amazing to me what Asian Americans have been able to do in the US while other groups have struggled.  My roommate is Korean Canadian and makes bank, and he so horny.

And yes, think tank.
