Vanderbilt won the home opener over Lipscomb 5-1 Wednesday night behind the strong pitching of Walker Buehler, who fanned six in five innings for the win. The Commodores opened the 2014 season with a three-game series sweep at Long Beach State. Vanderbilt finished the sweep with a 6-2 victory on Sunday behind starting pitcher Tyler Ferguson and freshman Bryan Reynolds. On Saturday, Jared Miller posted his best outing as a Commodore with six scoreless innings in the Dores' 6-0 win. Tyler Beede notched the victory on Opening Night with five innings and seven strikeouts in the Commodores' 5-2 win.
