Congrats to the Gators. Give LSU hell.

I don't want this to come off as sour grapes, its not. I just don't understand why the quarterfinals are double elim but all other rounds are single.  Does anyone know why the tourney is set that way?

I don't know the reasoning; I've just heard during other games that the format had to be changed because of the expansion and addition of 2 more teams being in the tourney.

How does LSU get away with play TWELVE teams outside of the top 200 in RPI?

Heck, they even lost one of those games.  We were getting hammered for playing 5 games against that type of competition, but LSU is now in contention for a national seed.  Especially if LSU wins tomorrow, I hope the committee doesn't give them the national seed and says the only reason why is the fact that 20% of their schedule was against crap teams.

They also only played 4 non-conference road games and one neutral site game.

Non-home games in non-conf play against Southeastern Louisiana (75), Northwestern State (117), New Orleans (276), Tulane (147), and Southern Miss (64) in Metairie, LA.  They didn't even leave the state in their non-con schedule, but that is what LSU normally does.

Sure, they have 43 wins right now including 20 against SEC teams, but we have 38 wins with 19 against SEC teams and aren't going to host.  Why should LSU get a national seed?

I just looked at Warren Nolan, and their SOS (#41) IS pretty weak for an SEC team.

I heard a stat during the UF-UK game that Florida had WON 25 games against the RPI Top 50; not played 25 but won 25... I'm not sure how many we played.

But that's why our SOS is #1 and why we just moved to #1 in RPI too, following the UVA loss to FSU... so playing a stiff slate has worked for us.

Other SEC teams with strong schedules include UK (#3), VU (#5), Bama (#8), TAMU (#11), AU (#15), and OM (#17).

But you're right, UAr's SOS (#27) is significantly better than LSU's (#41)... not sure why they'd be #9 in RPI and UAr would be #32.

Only thing I can figure is the SEC teams they beat must be significantly better than the SEC teams y'all beat.

Our sec schedule didn't help us. We had to play all of the big 3 in the east.

Arkansas - Vandy, South Carolina, Florida
Auburn - South Carolina
Alabama - South Carolina, Florida
LSU - Vandy, Florida
Ole Miss - South Carolina
Mississippi State - Vandy (they didn't play UK either)
Texas A&M - Florida, Vandy

My gripe isn't at all about our post season locations or anything. Just that there is no way LSU should get a national seed

I get that; y'all had a tough SEC East slate.

Another thing to consider is that even though LSU played 2 of the better SEC East teams, they didn't win many of the games against them... they lost all 3 against UF and 2 of 3 against VU. They went 1-5 against 2 of the top East teams.

I honestly don't know how they've got that high RPI; and just think, if they beat UF today, they probably lock up a national seed.

Karsten Whitson has held LSU scoreless through 6 innings on less than 70 pitches.

If he's even halfway back to his freshman year form, I'm picking us to get to Omaha.

I think it's ONLY because they want double elimination, but there would just be too many games with 12 teams.
I have no idea what the hell the ACC tournament is doing.
So damn confusing.

In a game like baseball, single elimination isnt sensible. I'd support just putting the Top 6-7 teams in and making it double elimination.
