Too late for that, even before today's game... we locked it up for ourselves yesterday.

That's why today Sully decided to throw the bench out there for our last game with UT.

They said in the pregame there was nothing for UF to gain or lose and that Sully was going to start mostly backups today so they'd have some more real game experience going into the post-season.

From the looks of it, they needed the work too; the backups played some sho nuff fugly ball today; if there was a mistake to be made, they made it... pitching mistakes, fielding mistakes, base running mistakes, batting mistakes.

They didn't take any home with them; left 'em all out there on the field... consequently we lost 7-5.

These are the backups who started today: Jason Lombardozzi 2b, Justin Shafer rf, Mike Fahrman c, Josh Tobias 3b, and Ryan Larson lf. And we let 8 pitchers take the mound, half of whom I don't even know.

Congratulations.  Posted Image.

I want to win, but agree that it's no big deal.  It's not because coaches that know they have made the NCAA don't care. A bonus for winning the tournament should be built into their contracts

Winning the SEC title is always a good thing. It basically means you're going to be set up nicely for the post season, more than likely a national seed. But I'm not going to feel any worse about my team if they finish 19-11 or so in the SEC and finish 3rd or 4th than I would if we went 22-8 or something like that and won it outright. could care less about a division "title"
Winning the SEC is big. Hoover, I could absolutely care less about. But yes, in the end its all about hosting and/or putting yourself in position for a post season run.

Agreed on all counts.

Hoover only matters for the fans, and even then it's not THAT much.
But still, it is something on the table that someone will win. Would much rather it be my team than anyone elses.

From February to May hosting is all that matters.  Winning solely matters in June. Just do whatever you have to in order to put yourself in position to win come hune

Per Van Horn today: Jalen Beeks will not pitch in Hoover and Blake Baxendale will not play. Also may sit/rest Jake Wise at catcher.

Winning matters.  Enough to host.  Then winning is everything in the postseason.

As John Cohen once said, "winning in the postseason is all anyone remembers"
