2. STL and Atlanta have been the most consistently competitive NL teams since 1990, only we can’t finish in the playoffs. So there is the competitive nature of the rivalry.

4. When it really reached a head was at the WC game in Atlanta. My wife and I were at the game for the biggest bull call in the history of the game. Now, the call wasn’t the Cards’ fault. But the way their fans and players and Matheney were total assholes about it, acting like it was the right call and they won it fair and square was utter bull. Not to mention it was Chipper’s last game, and we were the far and away more deserving team of a playoff spot that year anyway. Unless there is a tie, baseball is to precarious of a game to decide in a one game playoff.
As you can see, not any one thing it's just a buildup of all that stuff has really made me hate the Cardinals.
