Hell yes!

Arb years are the same as they'd be regardless. What makes this extension great is that we've bought out two free agent years. The back end of his contract, even if he's league average offensively, he'll be making the market value. His defense already makes him way more valuable than any other SS and the offensive potential is definitely there for him to emerge into something even greater.

This might be the extension I'm most excited about. Compare this to what the Rangers gave Elvis Andrus (7 yrs 100+ mil - granted he was closer to FA)...and this could be a major steal in a few years.

This offseason went from boring/disappointing....to possibly the most successful offseason in Atlanta in in 20-some years.

They were dead serious when they said the wanted to lock up the core to this team.

And FWIW, Wren gave a quote...said we're still not done. If one more deal gets done before the season starts, I'd almost guarantee it's Mikey Mike @StallingsBaldSpot .

Freeman, Teheran, Kimbrel and now Simmons are all guaranteed to be Braves through the prime years of their career.

Are these in order? Are all of the recent contracts backloaded?

Yes, and no idea, could do some research on the other contracts later tonight if you want me to.

I'm just curious. Not trying to be a Debbie-downer but it may be too expensive to keep everyone if they are all backloaded, especially if y'all don't see a major jump with the new stadium.

Most of them are, yes, but that's natural given that they're mostly aged in mid-20s. Designated arbitration years, those players aren't going to make as much. It's not until the FA years that the team is committing more money. But you got to remember that by those years, the Upton Bros contracts and the Uggla contract will all be off the books...in addition to the team moving into a brand-new stadium with a year-round mixed development complex also owned by the team.

Contracts are about to get ridiculous in baseball. The Braves TV deal is not favorable compared to other teams. That's why Wren is being so proactive about locking up the core players now instead of waiting another 2-3 years when they could legitimately price themselves out of our range.

I'm familiar with the area it's moving to...had a cousin that lived near there. It should definitely see a major jump, how major we will have to see. The biggest jump will be the weekday games from the surrounding business districts, that's going to be potentially a much larger market.

"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."

Thank the lord, I cringe every single time I see the empty outfield seats on those sparsely populated weeknight games.

That Simmons deal is a steal of heist proportions. Especially if he can get his average at about .270 and his OBP over .300.

Don't forget the new transport system to the stadium.
