But in the one game where he actually was going toe to toe against Mauk with two legitimate top 10 teams having their back he was outperformed and Shaw had to save the day.  Thompson may be better, but I think Mauk's ceiling is much higher.
mauk also got that game at home, well have that privilege and advantage this season!  on a side note, this thread is awesome, 10 outta 10, and would read again! gave me a great laugh!

I expected a unanimous agreement with me. I'm never wrong.

I didn't claim that..... I said he had a higher ceiling ... Please quote where I said he is clearly better, in fact I said Thompson may be better right now.

How do you figure he has a higher ceiling?  I never really get that statement.

Now if Mauk was black, then you could say that  :)

He is a freshman and already performing as well as most of the upper classmen aka he has a higher ceiling he can also scramble as good as James Franklin if not better and has a better arm

I think he's pretty good, don't get me wrong.  I'd be happy to have a freshman who played the way he did last year.  However, he really only played in 4 games.  2 of those were against bad teams (KY and TN) and 2 were against good defenses (SC and FL).

Against FL he completed 50%
Against SC he completed 40%

So let's not go out and say he was spectacular.  If he continues to complete 50% or less of his passes, you won't be winning as many games next year.

Mauk had higher passer ratings in those games than Thompson did in his 2 games.

What was Thompson's ratings against FL and SC?   Exactly, you can't compare random games against different defenses.

Thompson only started 1 game, and really only played in 2 (because Shaw hurt his shoulder in the first quarter at UCF).  In those 2 games:

Against UCF he completed 47%
Against MO he completed 55%

I'd say those are pretty comparable to Mauk's.

Sure you can if the teams are comparable. In additon to comp %, we can compare tds, ints, and yards per attempt.
