Funny to see this and to see what his rules will be about making the perfect bracket as well. My wife works for one of his companies and is pretty peeved right now since the company has cut raises for the last three years but yet he has a billion to give away.

One of his companies is basically just underwriting the insurance policy against someone actually winning.  Most likely they just cash the sponsors check for the premium and make money on the deal.

Yup, this is a money-maker for him...company I used to work for used to sponsor hole-in-one contests for golf scrambles with a free car being the prize if you ponied up $10 and actually made it.  We'd take out insurance in the event someone actually won & the price of said insurance would go up or down based on the length of the hole....obviously, the shorter the hole, the higher the cost for insurance.

There's no risk here whatsoever for Buffet.

Let me get this straight. We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and will be fined for if we don't, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts itself from it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese and financed by a country that's broke.

What could possibly go wrong?
