When you think about it, UK has all the pieces it seems to be a powerhouse athletics program. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't UK basketball generate enough income on it's own to sustain the Athletics Department?

Lexington is a beautiful place to live, it seems recruiting for football should be better. From the perspective of some of you UK guys, what's the hold up with football? Y'all could legit have a top 10 Athletics program in the nation. Why don't you?

Kentucky packs out their stadium on a pretty regular basis I believe, so the fan support is there.

Hiring good coaches. Kentucky has to show that they are willing to plunk down some cash for solid coaches. A lot of coaching candidates probably see UK football has sucking hind tit to UK basketball, and they don't want to get involved with that. In this conference, you have to commit to football, and even if the fans have, that doesn't mean the university has.

Hell, the could have had Bear Bryant. When Adolf Rupp got a car for going undefeated and the Bear got a cigarette lighter, Posted Image went down hill from there for UK football.

During the Mizzou, Auburn basketball game they were talking about why a lot of power schools in football aren't good at basketball. One thing they said was players don't want to be overshadowed by the other sport. I think it does make sense and could apply to Kentucky football.

1.) Not enough D1 talent in the state.

2.) Past coaches couldn't recruit them on a consistent basis out of other states.

3.) Northern most state in the SEC.

Combo of these things is the reason I think we have mostly sucked over the decades.

It was for winning the conference and it was a watch.  Doesn't change the moral of the story.  :)

Players or coaches neither one want to be overshadowed. A UK coach basically has to tell the admins what Dan told ours. Don't expect me to deliver consistent 8/9 win seasons in this conference with a CUSA setup.

State then pumped damned near $100,000,000 into football alone.

I may have butchered the facts, but the point still stands.
