Anyone who goes on or near a track to confront a racer should sit out a year

Yes. Hopefully this is a wake-up call, from NASCAR to the grassroots to stay in the Posted Imageing car unless it's burning.

not to mention a demigod of driving talent

Let's not go too far with that. They're are a few drivers in F1 who are among the best in the world, but there are plenty of guys who are not any more talented than most professionals.

Can I ask a question here?

Obviously Ward was heated because he thought Stewart wrecked him

Do the racing organizations ever review footage and penalize drivers who are judged to have needlessly caused accidents?

Are such complaints usually dismissed as "That's just racing"?...

If they have the resources. F1 has a team of race stewards who monitor that stuff and hand down penalties either during, or post race. Grassroots facilities really can't afford these things

Racing is one of those sports where it's almost impossible (or at least very difficult) to determine intent, though...unless it's blatant retaliation. Especially sprint cars. It's not like reviewing a hard foul in basketball.

You're asking me to believe that a multi-million dollar driver regularly competes in a race where the competitors are functionally blind

Actually, yeah. Its one of his hobbies and how he broke his leg last year.

In fact, they say the drivers with the biggest advantage during small races like this are the ones who are sober. That's why a toxicology test is pending, believe it or not. But I would hope  Stewart wasnt drinking especially with the big sprint cup race the following day.

When it's 3rd and 10, we shuffle out our secret weapon... he's the only person we ever want calling the next play... some call him the twelfth man.... we call him the whiskey drinker...

In NASCAR this rule is sort of open to interpretation and not very consistent. If its a blatant "I'm wrecking your ass and I'm not gonna hide it", then generally they are fined or whatever.

Other than that it's "boys, have at it".

Its racing they're racing the guys in front and behind them. That guy may have been pissed and Tony may have wrecked him but believe it he was trying just as hard to keep Tony from passing as Tony was trying to pass him.

I read that 2 of the 9 dirt track secrets is to never drive high in a curve, and to drink less than the other drivers.

Ward went high and hit the wall.

Still have watched this over and over, and it is my opinion he hit the dude on purpose, OR at least wanted to come close to scare him. In no way saying all you supporters of his are wrong because no I wasn't there watching. But seeing it, and putting what I know together, that is what I believe happened. I sure hope im wrong, but ill never be able to see Tony Stewart again without thinking im right.
