Not a racefan particularly, but you CANNOT claim southern heritage of you don't make Talladega at least once in your life...

Grew up a huge Mark Martin fan.  Went to probably 12 Atlanta and 10 Talladega races.  Once they started making all the cars the same it lost its luster.  I probably havent watched 5 races in the last 4 years now.  The sport died in about 2005 in my opinion.

I attended Dega for the first time when I was like 5 years old.  Rusty Wallace went flipping through the infield right in front of my face.  I was hooked after that.

The electricity when Dale took the track for practice or qualifying was unreal.  The electricity when he won at Dega was incredible.  I never was a fan of his, but I respected the hell out of him.
