Great hire!

May the bridges I burn light the way.

A quote from the magnanimous Senator Blutarsky:

"

Time elapsed between being notified that Grantham was gone at #UGA and that Jeremy Pruitt was hired?
41 hours
Bravo Mark Richt, bravo.—
Radi Nabulsi (@RadiNabulsi) January 14, 2014

It’s even more amazing when you consider that, according to the rumor mill, Richt spent roughly the first thirty-nine of those haggling with Kirby."

I'm not so sure Kirby was ever offered, who knows

I do think if things work out it will be better for us in the long run because as mentioned before, at 850K there is PLENTY of room for a raise

This makes absolutely no sense for Pruitt (Not as a knock on UGA, but he's leaving the reigning BCS champs here), but it's absolutely a great hire for UGA... Grats on getting a pretty damn good DC. Definitely makes me a lot more worried about UGA next year.

He's making over 150% of what he made at FSU.  That makes a lot of sense.

That part does make sense, and I'm assuming he'd have given FSU a chance to match the offer, but the fast timing makes me think that maybe he just went for it... I imagine FSU could've paid him close to that if they really wanted to.

My thoughts exactly. I can't imagine FSU not matching/beating our offer.

Whatever though, I couldn't be happier. Maybe now I won't cringe every 3rd and 4 or less....maybe.

Crazy. Guy was making 260k at Bama in 2012, 540k at FSU in 2013, now 850k at UGA in 2014. He needs to teach a course on tripling one's salary in 2 years.

Home run hire for Richt and UGA. Pruitt is a hell of a coach AND recruiter. Dawgs will be a defensive force in about two years.

Yup, not sure how things turned out, but it's absolutely a great hire for y'all either way.

Bottom line is no one can afford to hire a coordinator for $1.5m... Smart is priced for a real promotion

Part of me thinks this may not have gone down as fast as many think

Lakatos "resigning" (just so happens to be a DB coach) kind of makes me wonder. That happened only what, like a couple days before Grantham leaving? I know I'm probably thinking too much into it but just something to think about.

fwiw its rumored that Grantham was told to start looking for a job after the Mizzou loss..... of course it can't be confirmed but this all just seemed to work out quite perfectly timing wise

Not saying he won't do good or great things at UGA, but I'm not ready to say it's automatically an amazing hire.

He has exactly 1 year of experience as a DC....a year where he used NFL talent to shut down sh!tty acc offenses.

Word is that he had a HUGE role in Bama's defense. He was the one feeding Saban and Smart the info on the opponent's personnel and tendencies with that personnel. Correctly and quickly enough for them to implement the defense against it before each play.

IMO, Pruitt would have replaced Smart at Bama if Richt had gotten him to UGA. In essence, Richt got Bama's DC.

Well okie dokie !!  Good hire. And I think I like this arrangement better than Kirby. Dont get me wrong, I like Kirby, but the timing is all wrong, we missed our window of oppertunity to hire Kirby awhile back, And them bama gave him the insurance raise to make sure if anyone steals him, they will pay a hefty price. Pruitt is talented & making a name for himself. I think he will be really productive at UGA, and a better fit. It didnt hurt that fla st does not dish out the money to their assistants. Im excited about this one.
