Cash for clunkers killed off the good 2000.00 used car market. If you have to have something else I look check your local carmax and do 1,500 down. Keep 500 in reserve for expenses. I had a bubby get a nice 2007 Chevy 1500 from a car max in his town for 1,000 down and 220.00 a month for 3 years. And they will buy your paid for car.

Last year I bought a 2006 for 5,500.00 cash from one in stockbridge ga.
