well he did beat Kentucky the past 3 years. Some at home, some on the road. As the favorite. With that QB.

The thing to remember about Charlie Strong is the fact that he will have access to supreme talent and good facilities. If he is the coach many think he is, this will be his golden opportunity to show Texas what he can do for their football program.

I have proved you wrong the entire argument so I again disagree with you.

Just because you say you did doesn't make it true.

Strong is a mistake.  You will see.

Strong to Texas is confirmed according to multiple sources, IDK if I should make a new thread or just post in this one, so I will just post in this one.

Good defense?

Kentucky rung up 376 yards of offense against them and we sucked.

He is an underachiever.  And will fail at TX.

I hope your right....

I dont know what to think about this yet, but I will say Im glad they didnt get Briles from Baylor.....he cut his teeth on Texas highschool football and is basically a God in Texas. He can flat out recruit and they say most of the High School coaches in Texas love him....add that in with the Longhorns and they could of been really good really quick.

Strong would be a great hire.

They missed their shot at Bobby though, sucks for them.

Strong's recruiting base is out of Miami.  It will be interesting to see how fast he can get established in Texas.

This is all an elaborate ruse to distract Greg McGarity while Texas puts the finishing touches on a 10 year deal with Richt.

Now Strong to replace Richt at Georgia is a concept fully endorsed by CCRider.

Amen brother. Strong to Geoegia!!!!

Yep and admittedly FL and Miami were their typical Top 5 selves.

I would list the shitty teams UofL lost to but something tells me you would care.  So I'll just say time will tell if TX is dumb enough to hire him and if they are.....lol.

I agree that this is a risky hire for Texas, but Louisville didn't lose to any shitty teams. They lost to UCF, whose only loss was to South Carolina and who wound up beating Baylor, who won the conference in which Texas plays. UCF will likely end up ranked at the edge of the top 10.

Last year? Yeah, they had two disappointing losses, but still. Louisville won 41 games under Bobby Preteenhoe in his 4 years. They won 37 under Strong in 4 years. Not quite as good, no, but pretty comparable overall, and Preteenhoe inherited a John L. Smith team that had five straight winning seasons; Strong inherited a team that had losing seasons three years in a row prior to his hire.

Strong might wind up being a mistake hire for Texas, but I think he's got the coaching and recruiting ability to run a successful program at Texas. It all comes down to whether or not he can handle the pressure. If he can, I think it's a good hire.
R.I.P Philip Luzenkirchen, recipient of Neil Caudle's first career TD pass.
