Ok since @JDawg dropped the ball midway through the season I wanted to post a few thoughts about yesterday's game and this season in general. Also wanted to point a few things I'm looking forward to next season.

As far as the bowl game vs. Rice:

1. Dak looked great.End.
2. Defense looked sluggish first couple of drives ,but I think that was mostly jitters and rust. Totally shutdown that famous Rice rushing attack. Of course it helped once we got up by a few scores that Rice had to throw alot more.
3. Special teams, Not sure who the Earhart kid was ,but his one kick looked better than most of the crap Bell has done all season. To bad he's a senior.

Ok onto the season:

1. I'm not sure sold on firing the OC now that we have a qb who fits the scheme better.
2. Pay Collins whatever he wants.
3. Hire a ST Coach plz!!!!!!

Next year:

1. Of course excited to see what Dak can do will a full season of starts. Wanna also see Jrob and Shump more to.
2. Pay Collins whatever he wants!!!
3. Did we recruit a kicker at all?

in b4 tl:dr

Happy with the way that we closed, but keep it in perspective: we beat the two worst teams in the SEC West and an overmatched Conference USA team. I credit Mullen for not letting it all fall apart at 4-6 but he still has a lot to do to prove that he's going to compete with the other half of the SEC West. If he can't do it next year, I doubt he ever does.

i doubt he ever has does too.

I wouldn't call the season a success or disaster....kinda is what it is.  Injuries hurt, but they do everyone.   I think it did show a lot of promise and potential for next year tho.

At the end of the day, regardless of the circumstances, we finished with a winning record for the 4th straight year.  Winning records have been somewhat scarce at MSU over the years.

All you have to do is look at HC records to see that. Looking at post WWII MSU coaches, only Darrell Royal, Murray Warmath and Allyn McKeen have better records. In terms of conference record, only those 3 plus Jackie have better records, and Jackie arguably played in an easier SECW environment.

Same thing with bowl games.  4 straight, with the 3 wins, more than any other MSU coach.

I'm not willing to say he's the long term solution, or even that we're back on an uptrend, but I'm at least willing to take a wait and see approach through next season.
