Sorry but Battle is going to make a bad situation that much worse. The next guy that steps in will have nothing to work with and to me that means, no big name hire. After next season, will will have regressed 50 years.
"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."

Maybe cooler or more intelligent heads will prevail. Not likely, though.

There is definitely something to be said about, "doing it the right way" and "having high character". On top of that and a nice graduation rate, I can understand the backing of Grant. But there are a ton of coaches that can do that plus win in the tournaments. It's a bit baffling that they can't see financially how far this will set them back, sometimes you have to pay a lot to retain a lot.

I'm hopeful some staff changes are going to happen at least.

Staff changes absolutely need to be made. I'm in favor of giving Grant one year to prove himself with a full-deck roster next season IF he makes the necessary changes. Shula had the exact same problem - his lack of willingness to shake up his staff when he didn't see results ultimately cost him his job.
