Well it is one of the top jobs in the country so hard to fault him.  Just my guess here but I think they go after several more high profile guys than Franklin.  Doesn't mean they're better coaches but you must understand texas arrogance.  I'm not kidding that I heard a sports show say they were reading a list of potential replacements.  That list included Mike Tomlin and both Harbaughs.  It would be scary if they hired an elite coach.  I think Franklin is safe for now that could change if they get told no, especially if it comes out 2 or 3 times.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Not so fast, my friend.   Currently the SEC east has 3 teams ranked in the top 25, two of which are in the top 10.  In 2012, the east had 3 teams ranked in the top 10. In 2011, the east had 3 top 25 teams.

I don't always trust coaches to move from an underdog role to a perennial power totally successfully.

I imagine his personality would change quite a bit if he wasn't at a perennial underdog.  Would he be as effective in the favorite role?  Who knows.

It has come to my attention that Lane Kiffin is available.  Texas should consider him - or Vandy if for some absurd reason, any reason really, Franklin dies or gets offered a better job.
