Alabama was poised to make it to its third national championship in a row — and fourth in five years — until Auburn derailed the Crimson Tide’s hopes in this year’s Iron Bowl.

After winning the SEC (and No. 2 Ohio State losing to No. 10 Michigan State in the Big Ten title game), the Tigers are set to play Florida State in this year’s BCS title game in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 6.

Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, who is in the New York City for Saturday night’s Heisman Trophy ceremony, was asked about rival Auburn going to the national championship.

Looks like McCarron is able to put the rivalry aside for a day. Not sure the same could be said for most Tide fans, however.

If Auburn wins, that’ll make eight straight crystal footballs for the SEC.

I'm not sure the same could be said for most Barn fans the past two years either.

You expect sportsmanship from the players you pull for, and it's more mutual respect than "rooting for" Auburn.

I cheered hard for Bama last year and thoroughly enjoyed the title game.

Albeit I hate Notre Dame as much or more than anything in existence.

I won't root FOR Auburn, but I won't be dismayed if they win. It'd be good for the conference, good for the state/rivalry, and I have friends/family members who are attenting/have attended Auburn. For selfish reasons, I want FSU to win. But I won't rage/get butthurt if AU does. They've had a great year.

I've outgrown hating folks because of a silly ass game.  It's kinda sad to think that just because someone drew lines on a map, two hundred years later we pretend that it justifies acting like the Hatfield and McCoys.  After everything is said and done, there's not a dime worth of different among us.

However, this does explain the militant Jihadist mindset.

I am a born and bred Tennessean but only by the grace of God, I am an alum of The University of Alabama.

One third of my relatives are Volunteers, the other third are Auburn fans.   Back in the 70s, the only college games that I could attend were The University of the South and Vandy.

If you are lucky eventually you'll reach a point in life where your rivals are your closest friends.  One day I wish the same for you.

That's what not having that little brother mentality will do..
"I didn't come to Alabama to win 10 games a year and be a contender. I came here to win championships, Conference Championships, and National Championships. I love it here because that's not just what I want, but what this fan base expects." -Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban

Jeez after watching Jameis blow right past the other Heisman finalists when he was announced as the winner, I might have to root for Auburn. Dick move to not even shake the hands of the other finalists.
