Mark Richt is the Mack Browniest coach in college football not named Mack Brown.  In fact hiring Richt would be like Texas getting a time machine and going back to when they first hired Mack Brown.

Why is Mark Richt the Mack Browniest option on the table?  Well here are a few things to keep in mind:

1.Both Richt and Brown each have at least a decade of HC experience over the state school of large Southern state when Texas comes and came a-calling.  Richt at UGA and Brown at UNC.
2.Both are credited for revitalizing their respective Southern school's football program.
3.Both are and were viewed as top tier coaches who for what ever reason just couldn't seem to give over into elite status during their time at their respective Southern school.
4.Both struggled with big games at their respective Southern school.
5.Both are cut from the Bobby Bowden, aww shucks, kiss babies, pat backs, I want my kid to play for him cause he loves em', Executive mold.
6.Both were offensive players at Florida schools, Richt a Miami QB and Brown a FSU RB.
7.Both were offensive coordinators at big programs, Richt at FSU and Brown at Oklahoma.
8.Both are offensive coaches who don't get too gimmicky in their approach.
9.Both have openly feuded with defensive coordinators and both have allowed personal feeling cloud their judgment on keeping offensive coordinators.
10.Both are viewed as cool, calm, and collected even when everyone would like to see a little more emotion.
11.Both are seen as good recruiters.
12.Both are seen as "above board" and "honest", or excellent "front men" if you will. (this is one place where a guy like Patterson or Gundy will fall short of Texas' expectations).
13.Both are household names in college football.
14.Both have mastered the art of being a religion pimp in order to convince Granmommas to send their babies to play for them.

Not when he was at NC.  This is a comparison of Richt now to Brown when he took the Texas job.

:D Don't know, but I'd love to hear how Dawg fans felt about it if it happened.
