With all the controversy surrounding the BCS and the anticipation of the 4 team playoff next year many folks believe the selection committee will weigh the bcs standings as part of their selections. This automatically assumes Bama would have been the #3 seed this year.

Not so fast. The criteria for selecting the top 4 teams has not been defined, so they can pretty much put whoever the hell they want to in the playoffs.

BCS guru would have left Bama out :

http://m.bleacherrep...ittee-have-done

This is a little concerning. An all sec championship may not be as common as we all think going forward.

Next year is gonna be interesting to say the least.

When it's 3rd and 10, we shuffle out our secret weapon... he's the only person we ever want calling the next play... some call him the twelfth man.... we call him the whiskey drinker...

Until we see what the selection commitee does in 1 year, there is no telling what they decide.

The actual BCS ranking system goes away completely correct?  Only the AP, Coaches, and other non BCS computer polls stay?

Yeah, however the article was written by the bcsguru.

He actually makes a pretty good argument for leaving Bama out THIS time.

The whole "stanford played in the toughest conference" spiel is utter crap though.

I fully expect the first time two SEC teams are in line to make the 4 team playoff, they will be pitted against each other in the first round to ensure there will not be an all SEC title game.

This will be what most likely happens.

I will be interested to see what happens when you already have 2 in the top 4 and a team loses making a #5 SEC team move into the top 4.

I've recently heard rumors that they will not take 2 teams from the same conference. Obviously these are rumors, but would not surprise me if it turns out to be true.

There's something inherently wrong with:

"lets pit the two best SEC teams....to figure out if the SEC champ who already proved they are the best can repeat it"

It sounds unfair.

It IS unfair. But its what I want to happen. As much as we here would be ok with an all SEC championship game, the rest of the country and their lame ass conferences will not be. They're begging for a non SEC team to win the natty.

Championship games are pointless and should not be played. An 8 team playoff should replace the championship games. The Champion of each conference would be awarded by record.

So

instead of Championship games you have Round 1 of the playoffs.

Then you have your Semi Finals which are known as the plus 1 games.

Then the National Title game.

I could be wrong, but I think the BCS computer polls remain in the selection for the playoff.
