"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."

Hogan will not be going to Birmingham for an 8-4 team getting screwed over by Mike Slive and the SEC.

Isn't that letting them win?

WE have sold out Liberty Bowl and MCB...what else do they want us to do...Gator Bowl Will not even give us a chance.......just being very honest. Look what State did at Gator Bowl last year....you got to admit that was awful!!!  And now the Liberty wants State....a real head scratcher!!!   OH Welll we 8-4 two years in a row and get screwed again and again...not right by any stretch!!!

Recent Liberty Bowl attendance
2011 Vandy  57,100
2010 Georgia 51,000
2009 Arkansas 62,700
2008 Kentucky 56,100
2007 Mississippi State 63,800

None played schools with big fan bases.  Cincinnati, UCF, ECU.

Recent Music City Bowl attendance
2012 Vandy 55,800
2011 Mississippi State 55,200
2010 Tennessee 69,100
2009 Kentucky 57,200
2008 Vandy 54,200
2007 Kentucky 68,700

The two Kentucky years they played ACC Football schools (FSU and Clemson) but otherwise the ACC didn't buy many tickets to these games either.

Vandy didn't sell out any of their bowls.  Vandy's Liberty bowl only beat the most disappointed UGA team in recent history.  Vandy in their hometown was the lowest attended MCB in the past six and their other essentially tied Mississippi State and Kentucky both of whom would be more likely to actually spend the night and eat out as out of towners.

The point though is that just buying your allotment isn't good enough.  Both of these bowls want a team that will buy the other teams allotment as well because they know the ACC and ConUSA aren't going to.  And the corporate sponsors want teams that their clients actually want the tickets for or that they can sell on stubhub.

There is literally no way Franklin turned down the USC job for Vandy. I don't buy it. Not even for a second.

And set spending and attendance records.  They want people who spend money in the town.  And Vandy does not do that in Memphis.  Most will drive to the stadium for the game and leave afterwards.  They wont stay 2 or 3 nights in a hotel, eat out, go to bars, etc.  It's college football....nothing matters but the $$$, sadly

Vandy doesnt even show up when free tixs are handed out in big SEC games in their own stadium.

I never understood the fuss over which bowl your team goes to. I can honestly say I felt no different about the Vols being in the Outback Bowl vs Wisconsin after the 07 season than I did the Vols being in the Music City Bowl after the '10 season. I mean, I guess being in the Outback Bowl (most likely) means you had a better regular season, but beyond that, why does it matter where you play? The only difference in bowls for me is:

Tier 1 - BCS NCG
Tier 2 - BCS Bowl
Tier 3 - Everything else
