O'Sullivan, elite hire

Walton, elite hire
Halloway, elite hire

Yep, Foley is the best AD in the country for a lot more reasons than just football or basketball hires.

He was associate AD that also played a role in getting Spurrier to UF too; he's a true self-made man, working in the Athletic Department for over 35 years now, startng out in the ticket office and working his way up.

I thought the pic of two UF players blocking each other was taken out of context until I found this gif.

The gator players blocking each other, I mean really, how does that happen? Did they both have their eyes closed? I really cant understand how it is possible.

Yup he is the man my Dad said he would give him tickets to the football games " he played baseball" back in the day. They were terrible though 1978 and 79 around that time. He said Bama beat them 45 to 0 lol.

If he hadn't lost his starting QB, backup QB, starting RB, 3 TE's, both starting OT's, a backup OT, a starting OG, a starting center, a starting DT, a starting MLB, a backup MLB, a BUCK LB, and various starting and backup DB's throughout the season, with most of those injuries being season-ending, we wouldn't have... Vince Lombardi couldn't have coached that emergency room to a winning record.

The only group to escape major losses were the WR's, which didn't realy matter because there was no QB to throw them the ball anyway; and the only unit that wasn't heavily affected despite occasional injuries was the secondary because we're so deep there.

2 games ago one of our beat writers wrote that UF had lost players with like 150 starts just with the season-ending injuries, not including the number lost from guys who were only out for 1-3 games.

We've used something like 10 different OL lineups this year, and without OL consistency, you're toast. In fact, when the season started, we already lacked OL depth so severely that we couldn't have a Spring game for the first time in my memory.

He'll get next year, with a healthy team, to prove last year's 11-2 season wasn't a fluke.

Must not be any other good, medium, or bad coaches available right now.

I figured there was no way he'd survive that loss.  Pease (sp?) is definitely unemployed in a week.

He'll get next year, with a healthy team, to prove last year's 11-2 season wasn't a fluke.

But who's going to call the plays?  And what players are going to run them?  It's not like we're magically going to have an offensive roster full of first-round draft picks next year.  It MIGHT be possible if we hire (if we can find) an elite OC who can make an immediate impact through some magical X's and O's, but who's on that list?  And even if we get that guy, he's gone after one or two seasons when a good school needs a HC.  If we don't get an elite guy, then there won't be much improvement, and we'll be delaying the inevitable...prolonging the pain.

Hell, come to think of it, who would want to take the OC job knowing that you have to turn everything around in one season, a season that usually involves installation?  I think pinning WM's hopes---and the team's/recruiting's short-term future---on an OC hire is a disaster waiting to happen.
