Citing a source close to the program, the report indicated that Florida "has no plans to fire Will Muschamp, even after a monumental loss to Georgia Southern." However, "significant changes" to the coaching staff are expected.

That report falls in like with Bruce Feldman's comments from Saturday regarding the possible changes ahead in Gainesville.

Florida's 26-20 loss at home to Georgia Southern was the team's sixth straight and it guaranteed the program's first losing season since 1979.

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said he was "1000 percent convinced that Will Muschamp is the guy to lead the football program" earlier this month, and there is no doubt that the Gators' injury woes this season have played a major role in the rapid drop-off from 11-1 just a year ago.

6-6 to 11-1 to 4-8.
Wow. We look like Auburn.

At least your program will chop heads. We just stand around with our hands in our pockets.

well staff will take the bullet for this year. If he repeats another season like this, they'll feed Muschamp the bullet at the end of next season.

I figured there was no way he'd survive that loss.  Pease (sp?) is definitely unemployed in a week.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Pease, Davis (OL), Lewis (TE), and probably Choate (ST) are as good as gone.

I think there are several reasons he survives that loss.
1. Injuries.
2. There is no home-run hire out there right now. (See: Tennessee)
3. This is Foley's baby. He's been all-in on the guy since Day 1. Frankly, I don't think Foley is working too much longer and he needs this to work.

Muschamp has a miniscule buyout, I think it's less than half a million.

My favorite thing ever is that Richt's SEC Championship teams still lost to Florida.

their AD should be fired lol

Love the decision. Richt & Muschamp both have the possibility of being fired next year. The winner of the WLOCP will go 8-4, the loser will go 7-5.

I'm still not sure he's not going to be a great coach but he's at UF so he better start being great immediately.  To many 10 win/championship seasons down there in the last 20 years for him to get much time.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Next year is sink or swim, no doubt.
His plan was to hire an elite OC that he didn't have to bother with. So far he's had Weis, who was literally the best hire imagineable- yet failed, and Pease who is not capable either.

I'm betting they break the bank for someone who is experienced AND successful.
