Former Mizzou standout Max Scherzer won Major League Baseball's most prestigious pitching award as he was named the American League Cy Young Recipient on Wednesday (Nov. 13), as announced by the MLB. He is the first former Mizzou player to win the award. Now in his fifth season in the big leagues, Scherzer led the American League in with his 21-3 record and also posted an American League-best 0.97 WHIP while guiding the Detroit Tigers to the American League Championship Series.
