The reason they were crippled for the last hire and got stuck with Gonzo is because of the sanctions and show-cause order; by the time they get around to hiring a new guy those penalties will have nearly expired... they may have to let him have 1 more year, as their probation ends in August of 2015.

They get decent talent and rank in the Top 10 in attendance even when they suck; so I see no reason why they couldn't attract a good coach this time around.
I don't think ut basketball is on probation. Fball is I believe.

I think the donut clause is still in effect, could be wrong, but the free donuts were the most expensive part of the payoff.

Don't quote me on this, may be hearsay or rumor started by some bored poster somewhere on this site in lower Arkansas or something like that.

The Krispy Kreme in Gainesville shut down the year after he was fired.
Really depended on him visiting every other year...

Hire Mangino as a coordinator and you can get it reopened probably.

They both are. First the basketball program got hit, with there also being some minor allegations in football; and then the football program got hit a year later and extended the probation for both.

https://web1.ncaa.or...i/exec/miSearch

Regardless of when it ends, when it started is what affected UT's ability to get a top coach after Pearl. No top guy was willing to take the job because of the state of the program he'd be inheriting; and by that I mean having to deal with the repercussions of the probation, like recruiting restrictions.

Can't figure them out either, just like UT; the inconsistency must be driving Tigers and Vols bonkers... never know who's going to show up.

Yes he made them good at football during his time there.... the :lanekiffin:tards fired him when he went 6-6... I mean are you :lanekiffin:ing kidding me... this is the same school that now tears down goal posts for winning it's first conference game in 3 years and practices celebrating a victory as part of their daily practice.... He took them to a BCS game he was gold for them!

But even the greatest Kansas team of all time couldn't stop us
