I'm surprised that Mizzou has a bigger following than the Chiefs.  Arrowhead has one of the few college-like atmospheres in the NFL, so I always thought the Chiefs were close to the Cards in terms of fan interest.  Has the move to the SEC upgraded the passion for Tiger football across the state, or has it always been high?

The move to the SEC certainly has spiked interest but the biggest thing was Pinkel making our program relevant.

I think it's the fact that in the last 5 years, Mizzou has been at least decent and the Chiefs have been pretty freakin bad...  Bad.

As a life-long Kansas Citian, I disagree with some on this board. For my part of the state Chiefs are by far #1, arrowhead is something to behold if you have never been.

1) Chiefs
2) Mizzou
3) Royals

2. Where does Mizzou football fall in terms of popularity/media attention in the state? I have the suspicion Cardinals baseball is number one no matter what

Saw this on our pay to post forums about 2 mins ago and remembered this question so thought I'd share:

spent the afternoon at the missouri state fair.. was very intentional in observing  logo's...here's my rough estimate per 100 people who wear sporting apparel. (which is approx 2%-4% of those who attend)
   55 mizzou
   35 cardinals
3 royals
2 rams
2 chiefs
2 k-state
1 other

very surprised by the lack of chiefs/royals gear...yes, 90% of the logos were Mizzou or Stl cardinals...

I talked to some guys from St Louis who were working down in this area and I asked them what they thought about Mizzou in the SEC.They said that they didn't pay much attention to it,it was back page news.

But with pro sports and all up there I guess this group of guys just don't care for college sports. It kinda surprised me,but they have more to choose from than I do.
