What was that one QB Merlin wiffed on? He was big and fast and a bit metro?

I feel like he passed for like 4K yards in the NFL ....

whitley shouldnt be singled out....he is bad, but so too are most of our guys in the secondary.  with all the injuries, its a freaking who's who of people with inexperience.  if anything, blame the coaches for not realizing that no matter what happens, the opponents receivers will be wide open against any of our zone schemes.  it simply isnt working.

as far as bowling green, i expect a bit of a challenge from them.  they are putting up points.  we should easily win.  its going to be interesting what collins does or does not do.  im expecting a troy like performance, but who the hell knows anymore.

My biggest recruiting gripe as well.  In all honesty, we've recruited well on defense under Mullen.  We have capable RBs.  We lack in the OL severely.  Also, until this last WR class, our WR recruiting SUCKED.  QB is so/so b/c Dak is decent and I think Damian will be too.  Tough luck to miss out on Sandberg.

if you look at the recruiting stars, almost all of them play on the defensive side of the ball.  the only 4*s we have on the offensive side is russell and morrow.  shump and ross are not significant contributors...and morrow isnt really a contributor.

if we could build a solid offensive line as a priority every recruiting class, everything else would come much easier.

Quotes like this let me know.  He had this stance his entire senior year.  It was worth a shot though

"I wanted to do baseball. The signing bonus obviously was a big part of it," he said. "But with the tuition, why wouldn't you want to play professional baseball? If you make it, boom, you make it. If you don't, you go back to college."

Shump and Ross are freaking freshmen. Let's judge them by end if next year.

It's a good thing that we burned his red shirt for 7 snaps against Alcorn! Game experience is invaluable

i did not imply they were bad in any way whatsoever.  i simply said they are not contributors.  as you said, they are freshmen which is causal as to why they are not contributors.  i think both will be great players for us, but they hardly see the field.
