And I am back in to poor house with last weeks picks... My record was 3 - 8 - 1 last week; which brings me to 29 - 31 - 3 on the year. THIS WEEK, dcbl gets back on track!
Games in God's Conference (home team in ALL CAPS):
ALABAMA Georgia State 55
Georgia TENNESSEE 10½
FLORIDA Arkansas 12
Lsu MISSISSIPPI ST 9½
VANDERBILT Missouri 1
Mississippi AUBURN 3
SOUTH CAROLINA Kentucky 21
National games of interest:
FLORIDA STATE Maryland 16½
MICHIGAN Minnesota 18½
Rutgers SMU 4
BAYLOR West Virginia 28
Bama vs Georgia! But it's not time for the SEC Championship yet?? OH - Georgia STATE. YAWN. But if you have to bet, slit your wrists? I kid, I kid... Crimson Tide covers with 3rd stringers in.
Speaking of Georgia, they go on the road to what has been an historically tough venue for them. Being at Neyland, the grey shirts, none of it will be enough. these Dawgs look hungry and focused, 10.5 is covered easy.
The gators host a Razorback team that played surprisingly well last week. the Hogs showed a lot of spunk and heart against the Texas Aggies. But, and this is a big but... Florida actually fields a defense! Gotors win in a rout.
The Bayou Bengals lost a very tight and emotionally draining game last weekend. Plus, they have to go on the road - again. good thing for them that the Bulldogs they face this week don't have as mean of a bite. Tigers let loose some frustration this weekend and remind everyone why they are still in the hunt for conference and national championships.
Next we look at a game that has big bowl ramifications, as in, loser MIGHT not get the magic six wins. minimally, this game could be the difference between a post season trip to Birmingham/Memphis or something a little more appealing. Mizzou eeks out a close victory in a tight game.
Rebel fans have to be disappointed after getting shut out last week. they should be, I would be... But they should also be encouraged that their team still looks to be very good, much better than last week's final score would indicate. Auburn fields an improved squad as well, but the Rebels get a leg up on a better bowl invitation with a solid win.
The game between Kentucky and South Carolina is a tough one to pick. Three touchdowns is a lot, especially when the QB situation is up in the air. but the Wildcats are easily the weakest team in the conference this year, so I am taking the Cocks and laying the points...
I know that FSU is everybody's darling, but the Terrapins have been very impressive this year. In fact, i think that they COULD possibly win this game. But give me the Turtles and 16.5 all day!
OK, can somebody tell me how a team that just about lost to the mighty Zips AND Huskies is favored against a halfway decent golden gopher squad? By 18.5?? Please. I can't stop laughing! give me some Gophers!!
Don't laugh guys, but I still think that Rutgers has a pretty good football team. And, for what it's worth, SMU is pretty pitiful. Scarlet Knights by way more than 4.
Staying in the Big 12, I KNOW that Baylor is pretty good. I KNOW that W VA is not that good. But the 'Eers just beat a Cowboy squad that was SUPPOSED to be the class of the conference. And the Bears are not ready to be big time. not yet. Not by four touchdowns. Hillbillies lose, but keep it closer than 28.
