Sounds like the Red Sox locking up his rights for the future.   As a 29th rounder they can't give him enough money to give up football even if they wanted to.

Yeah. The most a post 11th rounder can get without it counting towards their allotted money for the top 10 rounds is 100k.

Signing doesnt mean much. Cooper signed with one of the Texas teams and he continued to play for the Gators.

JD made a smart move.If he cant make it in the nfl he have baseball to fall back on. Hope this doesn't hurt him on the football field we need him to come up big this year if we want to be in the hunt for the east and the NC.
