Let me broach a subject with you guys.

What do you think if Tyler can't get it done this season that we throw Dak out there and let him run the old Zone Read that Mullen likes so much. Holloway would be an absolute phenom on the option in this situation. We could rotate Perkins and JRob when we wanted someone to slice it up the gut for us. JRob especially on the goal line.

That could work. Let Dak throw short, underneath routes and screens to build his confidence up. He doesn't have a great deep ball, so don't ask him to do that. I guarantee if you are hitting 5-7 yard pass plays, you are eating field.

We have huge WRs this season. I don't see why they wouldn't be physical enough to go over the middle and battle lbs for catches. And if they don't prove successful at nabbing the rock, let them go block. They're big enough. Hell, Morrow is 6'4" of disappointment so far, IMO.

The O line--not only every member a veteran--but it's easier to run block than it is to pass block. We have the beef up front to run this offense.

Just my thoughts.
If Ole Miss wins this season's Egg Bowl, I will change my username to FreezeownsMullen for the duration of one complete year. And I will also add a picture of the Ole Most players celebrating in DWS.

When State wins, Rebelfan4life must rename himself MSUownsOM for the duration of one complete year.

It seems like that would make more sense. That is Mullens comfort zone, it's the offense that he used astoundingly well at Florida and its the option that beat us for 3 years. I think he only tries the pro-style because he has a QB who is suited for it.

See, this is my point. It's his wheelhouse. If Tyler struggles to move the ball, I would throw Dak out there and Relf it in a heartbeat. We beat UF in the swamp using that offense. We beat Michigan's pants off using that offense.

Mullen seems to have lost his identity a bit, he hasn't seemed himself this year. He needs a Dan Werner type, his offensive ideology meshes with Freeze's so there is not any conflict. They are both spread option guys so there is a cohesive game plan at all times.

russell is a great qb....in the right offense he could be a first rounder (im channeling my inner geno smith and admittedly, normally would not be a first rounder), but he is wrong with this offense....and its not necessarily his fault....we dont have the o line or skill at wr that he needs to be successful.  we would have to have guys that can consistently get separation and an o line with somebody that is not a 2* overachiever protecting his blind side.  i think our o line is serviceable, and our receiver corp is average to below average (i know we have some guys that can have good days, and i dont need a refresher course on the accolades of each wr), but i feel as though we need more than what we have to offer.....

subsequently, this offense has struggled...but i admit that its got a lot more to do with an oc that doesnt fully understand what the limitations and strengths of this offense are......so thats not tylers fault.  i just wish we had more that played to his strengths and more to cover some of his weaknesses....a lightly recruited o line (at least in some positions), and average receivers is NOT what he needs....it only exposes his weaknesses even more, which is a shame because he has a great arm.

last year, we tried to fit a round peg through a square hole on offense....i expect much of the same again this year.....hopefully, i am eating these words, but thats how i feel.

4-8 or 5-7 .  The same way teams figured out the wild rebel offense after a year  this team will face the same obstacles.

It's going to be so much fun watching reality settle in on the rebs this season. Do you all honestly think you'll stay on top against Mullen for long? I couldn't even type that with a straight face. Do you all honestly believe that you'll have another number one recruit pick you again because of family obligations? lmao.

That he won't ever win you more than nine games in a single season. Put it your sig. In three years, when he's lost to State twice and he's standing next to Houston Nutt in the unemployment line, we'll be laughing.

Tell us why he isn' a great pro-style qb playing in a system that isn't suited for his needs? Or better, yet, just leave since you obviously have nothing better to do than troll the board of a rival you're bitterly obsessed with.

perhaps, a great passer would be more applicable as he has some flaws holding him back....hes just terrible for our system and what we want to do and do best.....hes got a bunch of average receivers and an average o line....and still yet, he sets records...if geno smith can be considered worthy of a first round pick, so too can russell....either way, the take away message is that he isnt right for our system.  he isnt respected as a run threat which hurts our scheme.

Tyler Russell gives us the best chance of winning football games right now. Dak Prescott has not shown that he is a consistent threat in the passing game. If Russell played in a two tight-end, i-formation offense then he would be considered amongst the elite in the conference. I'm hoping that the integration of some under-center plays will provide him some comfort and help him improve. Prescott, however, adds another dimension to our offense, and I'd love for us to use him more next season. Especially in games we are leading late.

If the D allows us to have a lead late. I agree, though. No need at all to have Tyler in when you're beating an Alcorn State's brains in 35-0 at the half. Let Dak get some good reps in.

We had an O that fit Russel well last year, I don't know what you guys were watching.  Run, play action pass... Ect

We didn't block the run well... ever, we were mediocre in pass protection and we have NO ONE that can get open quickly.

Most qb's get some easy yards and easy completions every game.  Russel got zero help from anyone.  He had to hold the ball because it took that :lanekiffin: long for Clark, Smith, and bumphis to get down the field.

It has NOTHING to do with scheme or the "route trees" y'all are obsessed with.

BLOCKING. SKILL TALENT. period.

Merlin whiffed on Corey Smith, our only chance to have a game changer on O.  Next year will be more of the same until that changes.

Scheme on O is rarely the issue, Bama has possibly the simplest one in the SEC and we'll they do ok with it.

We need WR's who are big, fast, and can catch.  Or at least two of the three. Between Lewis, Morrow, Chappelle, that 4* freshman, and Holliway a couple guys have to step up.
