Yeah, I gotta think this pisses off the USC fans and not much of anyone else...I don't think what he said was that bad, and it's certainly no different than what any other non-SEC coach is saying or at least thinking to themselves.

Jesus dude, you keep contradicting yourself in every post. On one hand you say Dabo lied that nobody in the SEC thinks you have to play here to be successful here, and in the next paragraph you say that you have to play here to be successful here. Which is it????!
Do you have to play in the SEC to have success - yes or no?
So far all you've done is validate that what Swinney said was true on two counts.

How do you get that?
This is as simply as I can put it:
Dabo said the SEC may want people to think that success can only be found in the SEC. That's a lie. The SEC simply shows success is more likely in its conference, and does it with the factual results on the field and the draft history.
The results prove that success is more likely in the SEC, not that it can only be found in the SEC.
You do know the difference between more likely and certainty, right?

I posted first, he sided with me, which gives him a 100% chance of being right, even if he's wrong. Those are the facts.

Right, all the coaches in all the conferences are trying to catch up; what he said isn't bad at all, as they have no choice.
Geez, many of them say it themselves; publicly admit they're all trying to reach the benchmark established by the SEC.
Dabo just went the extra step of attributing something to the conference as a whole that 1. He couldn't know anyway. and 2. Hasn't been the position of most SEC supporters.

Dabo is basically retarded and looked like an idiot again trying to save Clem$on's rep.
Add it to the list. I don't think it's NOT newsworthy, but I don't think it's unusual.

"Non-story" meaning the majority of the USC fanbase is blowing his comments out of proportion, or rather misconstrued his comments. Nothing he said was a slight on the SEC, only a redirect to his football program and his recruits. I would imagine he was specifically asked about the SEC, which would explain why he comments on the SEC, and he did his job as coach in giving the politically correct answer.
Just because it isn't a story worth discussing doesn't mean certain fans in this thread won't try to make it one, which is exactly what happened. This should never have been a thread, and even when it became one, it should have been one page long max.

This is so silly. One reason why this thread has turned toxic is because of your relentless attempts to explain what you think he meant. Who cares? I mean, really. Say it once, let it go. Nobody is going to be swayed by anything you say. You know that. So just don't fret about it and allow yourself to relax knowing you said all you could to explain what you so passionately feel.

Bottom line, the SEC is killing the ACC, and everybody else in recruiting; not because of what "the SEC wants people to think", as Dabo asserts, but because of the results on the field.
Come ON man, I know you can see through all this BS. He never said we are killing the ACC because of "what the SEC wants people to think," he answered a DIRECT question about recruiting against the SEC, and he gave a direct response about recruiting against SEC schools. What he said was 100% correct and nothing less than he should have said as the head coach of a school that competes with several SEC schools for recruits. I don't even like the guy and even I can say "nothing to see here."

Um, wrong. The reason the thread exists in the first place is because people like you and others have gotten your feathers ruffled over what "you think he meant." Wade and I are talking about what he ACTUALLY SAID.
Get it straight.

Wrong and wrong. He works the recruiting trail the same that any SEC coach does. He hears from the horses mouth what SEC coaches say about Clemson and the ACC. So yeah, he COULD know what the SEC would "like people to think." And that's just a bunch of mularkey that "the position of most SEC supporters" isn't that you've got to play in the SEC to be successful. The "rah rah" crap has gotten so far out of hand that now even fans of schools that haven't done jack (like Carolina) ride the coattails of the successful programs and beat their war drums right along with them.

EDIT: Just editing to say this is my final post in this thread. Like I said way back on page 1, this is a non-story that shouldn't have been posted in the first place. Anyone who gets their jonathons jostled about his comments should be embarrassed.
