The advancements in workouts and techniques between the 60s to the 80's gives the newer boxer the edge. even if Ali has more power.
I would like to think that Ali could find a way to beat Tyson. He was often matched against stronger opponents and won time and time again.

Ali. Tyson fought has-beens and never-gonna-bes for his impressive knockout record. When he faced somebody who didn't fear his hype-inflated persona,(Buster-
ing-Douglas?) He got his ass whipped.
And George Forman would've beaten Tyson unrecognizable, as well.

Ali, Foreman, Frazier and Norton in their prime would have hit Tyson without fear. One good lick is all it took to take down Tyson. It took a lot of licks to take down any one of the old crew.

Anyone saying Tyson would go down in one hit obviously didn't see Tyson fight Lennox Lewis. Sure Lewis dominated, but Tyson was way past his prime and it still took a long time for Lewis(a great heavyweight and 3 time champ) to take him down. I'm probably a little biased because I didn't see the older fighters live, but their films rarely amaze me. Tyson on the other hand had power punches as fast as other fighters' jabs and was scarey in the ring.
Out of 10 fights Ali would probably take a few though.

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

It could go either way. I'd give the edge to Ali for all the reasons already stated, but if he just made one mistake, Tyson would get him.

IMO Ali would batter Tyson because he wouldn't be scared and has far superior boxing skills.

You beat me to it but yeah, I'd take Forman over Tyson too, though that fight would be closer and more fun to watch.
Ali was a boxer, Tyson was a brawler. There is no comparison. Raw power against nobodies looks impressive, but it would be useless against a guy like Ali. It would be like a sumo wrestler with a sledgehammer vs a ninja with a katana. Tyson wouldn't last 5 rounds

I was 21 when I began to watch Tyson in '86 and was amazed at what a freak he was but like some here said, boxing had been down and tysons competition wasn't near what alis was when boxing was in it's heyday
Also Tyson was a clinch fighter, he paced himself, cut Your face up in those clinches then would come out of those clinches with a flurry primarily his uppercut .....Ali wasn't a clinch fighter

Ali and it wouldn't be close. Tyson was the greatest fighter ever in rounds one through three. His training and style was never conducive to long fights.
Ali would draw it out as much as possible and then lay into Tyson.

Ali would "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee," and after going for about 8 rounds pretty much untouched, Ali would pulverize the idiot with the slutty lower back tattoo on his face.

Ali and it would not be that competitive. Tyson won most of his fights because his opponents were bums that were scared. Ali was a true boxer and had superior reach and speed.

I gave Ali the edge, but I think some of you are underestimating Tyson. He was no slouch and might have been the hardest hitter in boxing history.

Tyson wouldn't have made it through 6 rounds with Ali. Ali would have let him wear himself out then knocked him the
out.

For that matter, Tyson also couldn't have beaten Frazier, Foreman, or Holmes in their prime.
