Offseason sucks. Ali had the brains, stamina, and speed, but Tyson was at one time not even a human, and he was certainly stronger & had the edge defensively.

Convinced nobody beats 1988 Tyson. Was more than human. He was a robot crafted by aliens sent down to dominate boxing. Though, Ali had legendary toughness that Tyson didn't really have.

Not even Ali's legendary toughness could survive the uppercut of an '88 Tyson

Tyson in his prime would be the hell out of Ali. As much as Ali shakes he prolly can't punch straight anymore...or did I read the title wrong?

Tyson was an animal and first time Ali tries the "roper dope" and Tyson would have broken Ali's arms with uppercuts and then whipped his azz. Tyson was not human. In '88, he was a hungry animal and if Cuss hadn't have died, Tyson would have won for a very long time. Ali, Tyson wouldn't have landed that uppercut.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Not to mention Ali was robbed of some of his "prime" years.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Why not?? Only one guy escaped it when Tyson was in his prime, and to this day he'll admit that he doesn't know how the hell he did it.

Cause Ali was faster than anyone Tyson faced and Ali was smart enough not to get inside where Tyson could tee off on him.

I don't know. I don't think Ali would have avoided Tyson enough in the early rounds. Ali took a notorious amount of punches from most of his big time opponents, it's just Ali was such a tough son of a bitch that it didn't really matter.

Ali and it wouldn't be close.  Tyson was the greatest fighter ever in rounds one through three.  His training and style was never conducive to long fights.

Ali would draw it out as much as possible and then lay into Tyson.

possibly....but like TRB said, Ali took a lot of punches but was tough enough to take it. That being said, he never took the kind of punch Tyson could've hit him with. He undoubtedly would've tried to rope a dope him, but letting Tyson go at him like that would've probably resulted in Ali getting knocked out of the ring. Tyson's punches were extremely fast and powerful. One uppercut would've done the job, and one good body shot would've opened him up for an uppercut.

IF Tyson hit anyone it was lights out, I just think he would have struggled with Ali.  Plus look at the guys Ali beat Frazier, Foreman, Liston, and Ken Norton all of whom are in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.  Although, it's not Tyson's fault that the competition wasn't there Ali was the best of the best in heavyweight boxing's glory years.  It is impressive the way Tyson treated Spinks but that is his only win against a HOF'er.  I loved Tyson and still do I just think Ali would have beaten him.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Ali fought Ken Norton for 10 rounds with a broken jaw.  The man was boot heel tough and had a will to beat peoples ass that is not found in many fighters.
